In March, troubling reports circulated online about Malayalam superstar Mammootty's health. Some portals published unverified reports about the actor being diagnosed with a life-threatening health condition, following which concerned fans wondered if there was some truth to it.
Mammootty's PR team had at the time assured the public that there was no need for alarm and that he was undergoing treatment and rest for the same.
The latest update is that the Bramayugam actor had overcome the ailment, and is doing well and ready to be back in business.
Mammootty's longtime associate, make-up man, and producing partner George shared that the worst is behind him. In an Instagram post, he wrote, "I stand in front of you with my eyes filled with joy. And for those who prayed, to those who stood with me, to those who comforted me saying that nothing will happen, with unending love, dear ones... Thank you!
The same was confirmed by another associate of Mammootty, producer Anto Joseph, in a social media post, saying that everyone's prayers have been answered.
On the work front, Mammootty is expected to resume filming of the remaining portions of the Mahesh Narayanan film, reportedly titled Patriot, in September. The film, which also has Mohanlal in a prominent role alongside Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and others, has so far completed 60% of its portions. It is bankrolled jointly by MammoottyKampany and Anto Joseph Film Company.
Filming began in Sri Lanka in November last year, followed by schedules in Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. Other locations reportedly include London, Thailand, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kochi.
The film billed as a thriller is editor-turned-director Mahesh Narayanan's biggest venture yet. He is known for the films Take Off, CU Soon, Malik, and Ariyippu. He also debuted as a cinematographer with the Fahadh-starrer Malayankunju, for which he wrote the script.
Mammootty, who was last seen in Bazooka, is looking forward to the most-awaited Kalamkaval, in which he is playing a lead role, of a negative shade, opposite Vinayakan, who plays the other main lead. It is helmed by debutant Jithin K Jose. A day earlier, Mammootty shared a new poster from the film, hinting at the film's release soon.
