Amid frenzy speculations and a flurry of viral reports suggesting that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan would be taking over as the host of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17', a source close to Sony Entertainment Television has now stepped forward to set the facts straight. The statement comes as a much-needed relief for fans who were both excited and confused about the sudden rumours of a major change in one of Indian television’s most iconic shows.
In a statement to a leading Indian news outlet, the source affirmatively denied any plans of replacing the widely acclaimed veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, calling such rumors “bizarre” and “unfounded”.
“There is no way Big B would be replaced on the show,” the source said. He added that there have been no discussions about changing or replacing the host of the upcoming season of the legendary quiz show.
The latest update has put all speculations to rest. In fact, preparations for 'KBC 17' are already underway, with Amitabh Bachchan featured in the early promotional material. Posters, initial marketing campaigns, and planning schedules all indicate that the iconic actor is returning to the hot seat. The promos are expected to be shot soon. The show is slated to begin production in July and to premiere in the first week of August.
Amitabh Bachchan has been the body and soul of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' since its inception back in 2000. He is renowned for having hosted 15 out of the 17 seasons. Apart from a single season (Season 3) which starred Shah Rukh Khan as the host, Bachchan Sr. has been the consistent face of the show, garnering the affection of millions across the country.
