Fans of Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible franchise in India have reason to celebrate. Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the series, has announced that Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, the eighth instalment, will release in India on May 17, ahead of the rest of the globe, scheduled for a May 23 release.
The film is set to have a grand 4DX and IMAX debut, with screenings available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The early release appears to a be a response to the large Indian fanbase for the franchise. The latest of the seven instalments has a stellar performance at the box office. Mission Impossible: The Dead Reckoning Part One managed to collect Rs 130 crore at the Indian market. As one of the top-grossing films of 2023 in India, expectations for the next film have skyrocketed.
Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning will pick up where the previous film left off. Ethan Hunt will face off with an intangible threat called The Entity, who, in the wrong hands, as shown previously, can cause destruction to human life.
The film is helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, who has been on board the franchise since Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015). The Final Reckoning will also feature Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett.
