It is for the first time that a Malayalam movie managed to collect ₹50 crore through advanced booking. The lion's share of the collection was managed by the original Malayalam version although the censor procedures were completed in four other languages on Tuesday. It was claimed that around one lakh tickets of 'Empuraan' were sold within an hour of the advance ticket bookings being opened at 9 am on March 21.
Director Prithviraj or the producers are yet to reveal how much money the production of the action thriller cost. "I can assure you the real production cost of this movie will be lesser than what you think it has cost after seeing it," the multifaceted star, who is part of the movie's cast, has recently said in an interview. 'Empuraan' is also the first Malayalam movie to release IMAX version. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram and the Kerala cities that are offering IMAX shows of the movie that is a sequel of 'Lucifer.'
A million thanks to @PrithviOfficial for placing his trust in me for the third time, after #Lucifer and #BroDaddy. Subtitling #L2E #Empuraan across all its versions has been an unforgettable journey. Can’t wait to witness it unfold in all its glory on the big screen tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/g4DrWcvOm4

The principal antagonist of the movie remains unrevealed, despite the film's 18-day promotional campaign which introduced only 36 characters so far. Reserving a bit of the mystery for the big screen is a move expected from a sensible filmmaker of Prithviraj's stature.
L2: Empuraan will hit theatres on March 27, available in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. Besides Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the film also stars Tovino Thomas, Indrajith, and Manju Warrier.
