Adrien Brody and Halle Berry have reunited at the Oscars and recreated one of the most unforgettable moments in the Academy Awards history – the 2003 kiss. While it did not occur on stage like the original, it took place on the red carpet before the award ceremony commenced.

During Brody’s pre-award interview, he was interrupted by Berry, who embraced him before lip-locking with the actor, his girlfriend Georgina Chapman looking on, laughing at the incident. Speaking to Variety, Berry said that it was “payback” for the impromptu kiss that happened over two decades ago.
Brody, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the film The Brutalist later that night, laughed through the whole event.
A walk back memory lane
Back in 2003, 29-year-old Adrien Brody won his first Academy Award for the highly acclaimed film The Pianist. When Halle Berry announced his name as the winner, the ecstatic Brody made his way up on stage and before clenching his hands on the coveted golden statue, planted a passionate kiss on Berry, catching the presenter off guard.

Years later, when the #MeToo movement erupted, Brody was slammed for his action, many calling the kiss inappropriate due to the lack of consent. However, it seems that Berry has now settled scores. Speaking to Variety, she said, “That was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well. To be a part of his moment… tonight I had to pay him back. I’ve seen him out at parties, but this is the first time since that night that I’ve seen him on the red carpet somewhere. He’s nominated this year. He deserved that.”
