Guy Ritchie's new gangster series 'MobLand', with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, gets release date

Guy Ritchie series MobLand

Those who got a big kick out of Guy Ritchie's last gangster film, The Gentlemen, and its series adaptation of the same name (with a different cast) will find this news exciting. The British filmmaker has created another gangster series titled MobLand for Paramount+, on which it will premiere on March 30.

Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren front the cast. According to a report in entertainment outlet Variety, Brosnan and Mirren play a couple, Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, who are heads of a London-based crime family at loggerheads with a rival syndicate.

Hardy, who has played tough mobsters in shows such as Peaky Blinders and films like Layer Cake and Legend, is cast as a "dangerous but loyal" fixer, Harry Da Souza, who works for the couple. He is also an executive producer on the show, which sees the actor reuniting with Ritchie after the latter's 2008 gangster film RocknRolla.

The cast also features Paddy Considine (Peaky Blinders) as the couple's son, in addition to Lara Pulver (Spooks) as his wife, and Joanne Froggatt (Downtown Abbey) as Hardy's wife.

Additional cast members include Jasmine Jobson, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan and Emily Barber.

Interestingly, the show was originally supposed to be a British spin-off of the show Ray Donovan, starring Liev Schreiber, but the creators have come with a completely new material.

Aside from MobLand, Ritchie is also working on three films, Wife & Dog, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins and In the Grey, starring Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Fountain of Youth with John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, an Eiza Gonzalez.
