Always trust Sandeep Reddy Vanga not to mince words when calling out the hypocritical attitude of some folks working in the film industry.
The Arjun Reddy and Animal director brought up the attitude of a certain production house that refused to work with an actor after learning that he worked in Kabir Singh because of the perception that the film perpetuates misogyny.
In an interview with entertainment journalist Komal Nahta on his channel Game Changers, Vanga recalled the interaction with the actor who went to a "big production company in Bombay" whose name Vanga didn't want to mention. After the audition, they told the actor that they were not going to cast him because he acted in Kabir Singh.
Vanga also questioned why people who have a problem with his movies don't say the same thing to Ranbir Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Rashmika Mandanna or his composer Vishal Mishra. To console the actor, Vanga said, "Well, it's not like they're making the next Avatar movie. Take it easy."
Vanga finds such double standards "very irritating," adding that it's disrespectful and unfair to struggling actors who are yet to make it to the big leagues. "This guy came from somewhere, some other part of the country, did a small role and got a little recognition. He wants to get ahead, so he gives an audition and then they tell him they won't hire him because he worked in this film."
Meanwhile, Vanga is prepping his next film Spirit, with Prabhas as the lead. He is also expected to make the sequels to Animal with Ranbir Kapoor after Spirit.
