THEATRE RELEASES

Indian 2: Zero Tolerance

Release date: July 12

Nearly after two decades, the much-awaited sequel 'Indian 2' is hitting the screens this week. Keeping the plot under wraps, the trailer looks into Senapathy, essayed by Kamal Hassan, now an ageing freedom fighter forced to fight the new age systems of corruption and modern social issues. The movie will retain the core themes of the original film 'Indian'. ‘Indian 2' marks one of the last appearances of veteran actor Nedumudi Venu before his passing. It also features Siddharth, Rakul Preet and S.J. Suryah among others. The third instalment of the franchise is set to release this year. 

Sarfira

Release date: July 12

'Sarfira' is the original remake of the 2020 Tamil movie 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara. The movie revolves around 'Vir Mhatre' who sets out to make the common man fly and takes on the world's most capital-intensive industry with the help of his family, friends and sheer willpower. 'Sarfira’ is inspired by events from the life of Air Deccan founder Captain G.R. Gopinath. Akshay Kumar essays the role of Vir Mhatre alongside Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal.

Fly me to the Moon

Release date: July 12

The romantic- comedy-drama directed by Greg Berlanti stars Scarlett Johansson as Kelly Jones and Channing Tatum as Cole Davis. The story revolves around Kelly Jones, an ambitious marketing executive, who is tasked with a mission of improving NASA's public image in case NASA's Apollo 11 moon landing becomes a failure. Kelly is seen to have clashed with Cole Davis, the super-focussed launch director. Even though they have professional differences, they develop feelings for each other. Woody Harrelson, Jim Rash and Anna Garcia play pivotal roles in the movie.

Maharaja

Release date: July 12

After its theatrical release, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film 'Maharaja' is all set for its OTT debut. Written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan the film tells the story of a barber who seeks revenge after his home gets burglarized. Alongside Vijay Sethupathi, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Mamta Mohandas, Anurag Kashyap, Divya Bharti and Abhirami among others. The movie has received positive reviews after its theatrical run. 

Pill

Release date: July 12

Streaming platform: JioCinema

Director Raj Kumar Gupta is set to make his OTT debut with a web series called 'Pill', starring Ritiesh Deshmukh in the lead. The series delves into the malpractices of the pharmaceutical industry. From making a pill to consuming it, the series throws light on corrupt doctors, politicians, pharmaceutical representatives and big pharma companies. The series will also mark Ritiesh's OTT debut.

Wild Wild Punjab 

Release date: July 10 

Streaming Platform: Netflix

The comedy-drama looks into themes of friendship, love and everything that is Punjabi. The story revolves around Khanne played by Varun Sharma, who had to go through a recent breakup, and how his friends Aroor, Jainu and Honey Paaji help him lift his spirit by going on a road trip. The movie is directed by Simarpreet Singh and features Patralekhaa Paul, Sunny Singh and Rajesh Sharma in lead roles.

Kakuda

Release date: July 12

Streaming platform: Zee5

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie promises to be a horror comedy-drama. The story unfolds in Ratodi, a village haunted by an ancient curse. Each house in the village has two doors—one small and one big. Every Tuesday at precisely 7.15 PM all the houses in the village must leave their smaller doors open, if failed to do so the wrath of Kakuda will be upon the man of the house. The movie features a stellar cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem.

Showtime Season One (Part 2)

Dharma Productions’ highly praised 'Showtime' season one part 2 is set to release this week. The series delves into the secrets, glitz, and glam of Bollywood.
