Actor Randeep Hooda has called Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning flick, Oppenheimer, a 'propaganda film'. The actor, who recently was seen in Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, a biopic of revolutionary freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, in an interview said, “America made Oppenheimer. That man built the atomic bomb. It was such a painful incident… in Japan, on civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they detonated the bomb at night, but they’re good guys. America is the good guy. What did they do in Vietnam? Their movies are propaganda, their movies tell the entire world that ‘we are the best army, we are the good guys. Japanese, and Germans are bad’ and history also has the same thing, because they have written history. But this is not true.”

Hooda said this is an interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia. The Savarkar film was also Hooda's directorial debut. The movie also featured Ankita Lokhande in a pivotal role. Hooda got married to actor Lin Laishram in November 2023.

Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, won director Christopher Nolan his first Oscars-- for best film and best director. Murphy won the Oscar for best actor for the titular role and Robert Downey Jr. won the statue for best actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss.

Hooda further said, “They made pictures of their heroes like Oppenheimer, Truman and the world watches them. On the other hand, we are always trying to demean our heroes because of political vendetta.” He also said that in Hollywood films, aliens only visit their country as aliens can spot only America.
