Deepfakes are digitally manipulated videos, which spread misinformation. Deepfakes of actors are usually used to create erotic or porn videos. Deepfakes are usually created using Artificial Intelligence and low-quality deepfakes are usually easy to identify. Deepfakes can also be used to create false photos and false audio. Deepfake is also used for political satire and comedy.
This video of Kajol shows the actor changing clothes. The video has been uploaded by an influencer under the Get Ready With Me trend and was originally shared on TikTok. When a video of her altered by deepfake came out, Mandanna spoke up about it. Her colleagues in the industry came out in her support and this prompted the government to take action and asked social media platforms to take down the video.
In this video, Kajol's face has been superimposed on the body of an influencer Rosie Breen. Actors like Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johannson and Kristen Bell have fallen prey to deepfake technology.
