The cast of Friends, the television series Matthew Perry was a part of, has reacted to the actor's death. In a joint statement, they wrote, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

The statement was signed by Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. Friends, the 90's iconic television show ran for ten seasons from 1994-2004. Perry played the loveable, sarcastic character of Chandler Bing in the series. In the series, he was paired with Courtney Cox, who played Monica Geller.

Perry, reportedly landed the role at a low point in his life, when he was 'completely' broke. He prayed, “Please, God, make me famous. You can do anything you want to me; just make me famous,” he said in an interview.

Perry, at the height of his fame, battled with addiction to painkillers and alcohol. He has visited rehabilitation clinics several times. His Friends co-stars have accompanied him to de-addiction centres a few times and supported him as he struggled with his health due to addiction issues.

As for now, the medical examiner listed the cause of death as “deferred.”
