Pop star Britney Spears, in her upcoming memoir, has written that she underwent an abortion while dating actor, pop star Justin Timberlake. The book titled 'The Woman in Me', focuses on Spears being under conservatorship under her father James Spears for 13 years.
According to a People Magazine report, Timberlake was "not happy" about Spears being pregnant. "He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives," she says.
They dated between 1999 and 2000 when they were in their late teens. In the book set to release on October 24, she says he was very sure about not wanting to be a father. She adds that, if left up to her, she wouldn't have gone ahead with the abortion.
"For me, it wasn't a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I'd anticipated," she said, BBC reported. Spears went on to have two children with her second husband Kevin Federline-- Sean Preston and Taylor James.
The 41-year-old has previously called the conservatorship, which her father arranged after she had a public breakdown in 2008, 'abusive'. At the time, Spears shaved her head. In 2021, she testified in a court that she was drugged, forced to perform and prevented from having more children.
Under the arrangement, the singer had very little say in financial or career matters. Her father even had control over her personal matters, including whether she could get remarried. Since the end of her conservatorship, Spears has recorded several more hits and married boyfriend Sam Asghari. The couple, however, got divorced a year later. Spears says after the conservatorship, she has been able to carve out an identity for herself, that of a strong, confident woman.
