The Harry Potter TV series will officially be streaming on Max a streaming platform, which was until today known as HBO Max. The series is expected to span over ten years. The series, which will feature a new cast, will be “produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for.” Max, the newly announced streaming platform will combine the original HBO Max with Discovery+.

The $16-per-month service, called Max, will be released May 23 in the U.S. and automatically replace the company's existing HBO Max service in what is being promised as a seamless transition.

The existing Discovery Plus app featuring reality and unscripted series such as Fixer Upper and Naked and Afraid from a collection of TV networks will continue to be offered. That's even as all that programming is made available within the new Max app, which will be marketed with the tagline The One To Watch.

Author JK Rowling, whose books the series will be based on, will be one of the executive producers of the show. Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts will be executive producers too. David Heyman, who was executive-producer of all eight of the Harry Potter movies, is also in talks to executive-produce.

Rowling, in recent times, has come under severe criticism for her unkind comments towards the transgender community. The original movies will still be available to watch, globally. The largely beloved coming-of-age franchise, is one of the most successful ones, with it having an official website, an app, merchandise, limited edition books and more.
