Actress Priyanka Chopra, a global icon, has created a space for herself in the West—as an actress and also as an entrepreneur. Priyanka forayed into Hollywood with her 2015 television series Quantico, and is now busy promoting her upcoming series Citadel.

Opening up about her decision to move leave Bollywood and pursue a career in Hollywood, Priyanka said she was tired of the politics in Bollywood and “needed a break”. Before her acting stint, she focused on music videos in the US in 2012. During a conversation with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman on the podcast 'Armchair Expert', Priyanka said: "I was being pushed into a corner in the (Hindi film) industry. I had people not casting me for reasons, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

The actress said this was first time she was talking about the reasons for her move to the US.

Priyanka, now based out of Los Angeles, said she was signed by American record label Interscope Records where its founder Jimmy Iovine was her talent scout. She gained prominence through music videos In My City and Exotic. "This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people,” she said.”

Speaking about her the Russo Brothers's show Citadel which will premiere on April 28, Priyanka said the action-packed show not just features great stunt sequences, but a drama at the heart of each of them. She also has Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zara, also featuring Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, in the pipeline.
