Former US president Barack Obama continued with his annual tradition of sharing the list of his favourite movies. In a tweet on Saturday morning, Obama wrote: “I saw some great movies this year. Here are some of my favorites. What did I miss?”

The former president's list of 17 movies includes award contenders like Top Gun: Maverick and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The full list includes Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave, Gina Prince-Bythewood’s The Woman King, Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, John Patton Ford’s Emily the Criminal, Celine Sciamma’s Petite Maman, Margaret Brown’s Descendant, Audrey Diwane’s Happening, Chinonye Chukwu’s Till, Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once, Fernando León de Aranoa’s The Good Boss, Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Asghar Farhadi’s A Hero, Panah Panahi’s Hit the Road, Todd Field’s Tar and Kogonada’s After Yang.

Obama said he was biased towards Descendant because it was produced by the Obamas-backed production house Higher Ground. Several Twitter users poured out movie suggestions in the comments. Interestingly, some also suggested Obama must watch SS Rajamouli's RRR. 'Naatu Naatu' from RRR has secured a place in the best music (original song) shortlist for the 2023 Academy Awards.

Obama also shared a list of his favourite music and books this year. In books, he first listed his wife Michelle Obama's The Light We Carry, with a disclaimer: I'm a bit biased on this one. The list also includes Emily St. John Mandel's Sea of Tranquility, Stacy Schiff's Founding Father biography, The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams, and more.

Beyonce's 'Break my Soul' made it to the former president's list of favourite tunes from 2022. He tweeted: “I always enjoy sharing my end of year music playlist with all of you — and this year we heard a lot of great songs. Here are some of my favorites.” Check out the full list:
