Ayodhya mahant asks people to burn theatres where 'Pathaan' will be screened

Mahant Raju Das accuses Bollywood and Hollywood of insulting Hindu deities

Amidst the raging controversy over a song in the Bollywood movie 'Pathaan', starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, Mahant of Ayodhya's Hanuman Garhi Raju Das gave a call to set fire to theatres where the movie will be screened.

A section of the right wing activists has been objecting to the song in the movie in which Deepika Padukone was seen wearing a saffron outfit.

Mahant Raju Das, who had earlier threatened to behead Leena Manimekalai, a Madurai born filmmaker based in Toronto, over the poster of her 30-minute documentary Kaali, in a video, accused Bollywood and Hollywood of trying to make fun of Sanatan dharma and insulting Hindu deities.

He claimed that Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron biking in the song 'Besharam Rang' amounted to insulting the religious sentiments of seers in India.

He accused Khan of making fun of Sanatan dharma and sought to know what was the need to wear a saffron bikini while dancing to the song.

"I appeal to people to boycott the film and burn the theatres wherever the movie will be screened. The makers of the film should also be treated in the same manner," he was quoted as saying in the video.

On Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra had objected to Padukone's costume in the song. Mishra said if certain scenes in the song are not "corrected", the government will consider what to do about the screening of the movie in Madhya Pradesh.
