Popular Bollywood lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar urged former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama that she makes a bid for White House, saying "the world needs" her there.

Responding to a tweet by Michelle Obama, in which she announced her upcoming tour for the promotion of her book 'The Light We Carry', Javed Akhtar wrote: "Dear Ms Michelle Obama, I am not some young crazy fan but a 77 years old writer/poet from India. Hopefully any Indian would know my name. Madame please take my words seriously, not only US but the world needs you in White House."

"You shouldn't shrug off this responsibility," he added.

Michelle Obama is all set to release her book on November 15.
“I’m so excited to go on #TheLightWeCarry Tour with these wonderful people! I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more. I hope you’ll join us,” she had tweeted, announcing the tour.

She will be touring Washington DC, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She will be joined by Ellen Degeneres, Gayle King, Elizabeth Alexander, and Conan O'Brien among others during the tour.
