Season 1 of Netflix drama series 'Savage Beauty' also streams this week

The second week of May brings some much-awaited content on to streaming platforms. From Amazon Prime Video's Modern Love: Mumbai and Mammootty's thriller Puzhu on SonyLIV, here is a quick look at releases to look forward to this week. Season 5 of Netflix's historical fantasy drama Outlander also dropped on May 10.

Beast: Netflix

Release date: May 11

The Vijay-starrer action thriller had released in theatres on April 13. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Beast features Vijay as a former RAW agent who tries to rescue people held hostage in a shopping mall by terrorists. Pooja Hegde played the female lead. The film also featured Selvaraghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Aparna Das among others.

Modern Love Mumbai: Amazon Prime Video

Release date: May 13

The Mumbai chapter of the much-loved US original anthology series Modern Love brings together six filmmakers—Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava and Nupur Asthana. Inspired by the famous New York Times column, the anthology will showcase "soul-stirring and uplifting stories that are rooted in the heart of the city of Mumbai".

Sneakerella: Disney plus Hotstar

Release date: May 13

Set in New York's 'sneaker culture', the musical comedy film is a re-imagining of the classic fairytale Cinderella. “After falling in love with Kira King, the daughter of basketball star and sneaker tycoon Darius King, an aspirant Queens sneaker designer gains the confidence to pursue his dream of becoming a professional sneaker designer with the help of his best friend, Sami, and his Fairy Godfather,” reads the storyline. Directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, the film features Chosen Jacobs, Lexi Underwood, and John Salley among others.

Savage Beauty season 1: Netflix

Release date: May 12

Created by Lebogang Mogashoa, the drama series steps inside the workings of a powerful family in the cosmetic industry. “Seeking revenge for her tragic past, a mysterious woman embeds herself in a powerful family who possess a global beauty empire — and dark secrets,” reads Netflix's official synopsis. Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, Rosemary Zimu, Nthati Moshesh and Dumisani Mbebe star in the drama series.

Puzhu: SonyLIV

Release date: May 13

A highly-anticipated project, Puzhu is helmed by debutant director Ratheena PT. The thriller's trailer revealed that it revolves around a father, son and family equations. Featuring Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvoth, Puzhu is bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The film is written by Harshad, who wrote Mammootty’s critically acclaimed film Unda and the screenwriter duo Suhas-Sharfu (of Virus, Varathan fame).
