Kangana plays lead role in 'Thalaivii', biopic of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is awaiting the release of her next Thalaivii, paid homage at the beach side memorial of Jayalalithaa in Chennai on Saturday. Thalaivii, directed by Madrasa Pattinam fame A.L. Vijay, is a biopic based on the life of former chief minister Jayalalithaa. Thalaivii is scheduled for release on September 10.

Clad in an saffron coloured silk sari, Kangana visited the memorials of MGR and Jayalalithaa at the shores of Marina beach in Chennai along with director AL Vijay, ahead of the movie release The actor also paid tributes at former chief minister M Karunanidhi’s memorial.

Kanagana, actually walked the extra mile and rigorously prepared to play for the role of Jayalalithaa. In the first look images shared by the Thalaivii team earlier, Kangana was seen wearing a green sari with a green overcoat and her hair neatly tied up, just like Jayalalithaa. Arvind Swamy plays the role of MGR, opposite Kangana. Nassar, Bhagyashree, Samuthirakani, Madhu Bala, Thambi Ramaiah, Poorna and Vidya Pradeep are also part of the cast.

Thalaivii, a biopic based on Jayalalithaa’s life, her cinema days and her days with MGR, will hit the theatres on September 10. The film was earlier scheduled for release on April 23, but postponed due to the pandemic.
