The makers of Parineeti-starrer Saina, the biopic of badminton champion Saina Nehwal, are being trolled for the film’s poster. Soon after the poster was revealed, some users on social media found faults in it, especially claiming that the makers had made a mistake with respect to the ‘badmintion serve’ depicted in the poster.

Many commented that the serve shown in the poster looked more like a tennis serve than that of badminton.

Many trolled Parineeti and the team and said that they might have mistaken Saina for Sania who plays tennis. The film’s director Amole Gupte took to Facebook on Wednesday and broke his silence on the controversy. He said that it was unfortunate that he had to explain the concept of the poster to a ‘quick reacting, impatient world’.

Re-sharing the film’s poster, Gupe wrote, “Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster… “looks like a tennis serve… Saina doing a Sania” etc etc… If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!!! (sic)”

He added, “High Concept Poster by Rahul Nanda has to be unfortunately explained in detail to a quick reacting, impatient world… not stopping to think before rubbishing anything!!! Socho!!!”

Saina is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 26.
