Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu face income tax raids in Mumbai

IT sleuths are raiding several locations in Mumbai, according to reports

The Income Tax Department is conducting searches at the Mumbai residences of actress Taapsee Pannu, and filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl, according to multiple news reports. The raids are in connection with Kashyap's production house Phantom Films.

The IT sleuths are raiding several locations in Mumbai and Pune, NDTV reported.

Premises of Reliance Entertainment group CEO Shibhashish Sarkar and executives of talent management agancy KWAN were also raided. The action is part of a tax evasion probe against Phantom Films, which was dissolved in 2018, and its then promoters Kashyap, director-producer Vikramaditya Motwane, producer Vikas Bahl and producer-distributor Madhu Mantena. Set up in 2011, Phantom Films was dissolved in 2018 after a formed employee accused Bahl of sexual assaultment. 

Founded in 2011, Phantom Films produced films such as Lootera, Queen, Ugly, NH 10, Masaan and Udta Punjab.
