After being fined for not wearing a helmet, Vivek Oberoi thanks Mumbai Police

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who was fined Rs 500 by the Mumbai traffic police after he shared a video of himself riding a motorcycle without a helmet, thanked the police for making him "realize that safety is always most important."

In a tweet, he also asked his followers to be safe, wear a helmet and a mask.

The actor was not wearing a mask either in the video that he had shared despite it being mandatory during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The actor tweeted: Pyaar humein kis mod pe le aaya!Nikle they nayi bike par hum aur hamari jaan, bina helmet ke kat gaya chalaan!Riding without a helmet?Mumbai police will do a checkmate!Thank u @mumbaipolice for making me realise that safety is always most important. Meanwhile, an FIR was also registered against the actor in Mumbai for not using a mask.

The video shared by the actor on social media showed him riding a brand-new motorbike without wearing either helmet or face mask.

The FIR was registered against him under IPC sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) alongwith provisions of the Maharashtra COVID -19 Precautionary Measures 2020 and the Motor Vehicles Act.
