Bollywood actor Sunny Leone was questioned by the Crime Branch of the Kerala Police on Friday in connection with a cheating case filed over missing two events and duping the complainant of Rs 29 lakh.

Crime Branch officials have recorded the statement of the actor in Thiruvananthapuram where she was shooting for a reality series.

Leone, who is presently on vacation in Kerala, was questioned on Friday night following the complaint registered by R. Shiyas of Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district. Shiyas stated that the actor accepted Rs 29 lakh for two events, but did not hold her end of the bargain, the police said.

However, reports said that as per people handling the actor’s itinerary, Leone accepted only Rs 12 lakh, which is likely to be returned to the complainant.

Leone, on her part, has told the police that she missed the events due to the coronavirus pandemic. She also admitted that the organisers of the events postponed it five times and were responsible for the delay.

The actor also expressed her willingness to attend the event if the organisers schedule it for another day that is convenient for both parties. Police officials have reportedly said that Leone and the complainant, Shiyas, will discuss their next course of action based on the developments.

As per reports, Leone is in Kerala to shoot for the upcoming season of dating reality show Splitsvilla. She recently finished shooting for Vikram Bhatt’s ten-episode web series Anamika, which will be out on MX Player.
