A day after comedian Bharti Singh was arrested over allegations of use of marijuana, her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa was taken into custody on Sunday morning in connection with the drugs case being probed by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Limbachiyaa, a screenwriter and producer for television, was questioned by the NCB for 15 hours while his wife Bharti Singh was arrested on Saturday after their Mumbai home was searched. The couple has been sent to judicial custody till December 4.

As per reports, 86.5 grams of cannabis was found in their apartment complex in Andheri, following which they were taken in for questioning. The NCB confirmed that the couple accepted that they use cannabis.

“Both Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa accepted consuming ganja. Ms Singh was placed under arrest under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1986,” the NCB release read. Officials said that though the quantity of drugs found was a small quantity it could still invite up to 10 years in jail.

The NCB has been probing alleged drug use in the entertainment industry, including Bollywood, since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June and the role of substance abuse in his death.

The agency had arrested Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik in September for allegedly procuring drugs for the late actor, based on certain WhatsApp chats. Rhea was sent to judicial custody before being released on bail.

Other top Bollywood actors, including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakulpreet Singh and Shraddha Kapoor, have been questioned by the NCB as well in the last few months. Actor Arjun Rampal’s home was searched earlier this month and both he and his girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades, were questioned by the NCB.
