5 BOLLYWOOD MOVIES THAT WERE ORIGINALLY CONCEIVED IN MALAYALAM

1. Bhool Bhulaiyya (2007):

This Priyadarshan directorial, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, is a remake of Fazil's psychological thriller 'Manichithrathazhu' (1993). Despite being a box office hit, the film failed to capture the essence of the original.

2. Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega (2000):

The remake of the comedy-drama 'Chandralekha' (1997), this Raj Kanwar directorial is a Hindi-language rom-com feature Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles.

'Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega' differs from the former in narrative development and character motives, with greater emphasis on its romantic elements.

3. Hera Pheri (2000):

'Hera Pheri' is a comedy film directed by Priyadarshan that stands as one of the most iconic releases in Bollywood. The remake of the 1989 comedy-thriller 'Ramji Rao Speaking', this Akshay Kumar starrer has significantly moulded the genre.

4. Selfiee (2023):

Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfiee is the remake of the family entertainer 'Driving Licence' (2019), with Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Unlike its original film, it was a huge failure at the box office.

5. Yaariyan 2 (2023):

'Banglore Days' (2014), a movie that is said to have altered the dynamics of the Malayalam film industry, has been remade into Hindi and titled 'Yaariyan 2', directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru.

While 'Banglore Days' was critically acclaimed and accoladed, the latter garnered mixed reviews and was criticised for the pacing and editing.
