50th Kerala State Film Awards: Kani Kusruthi, Suraj, Lijo win big

‘Vasanthi’, directed by Rahman Brothers, was declared the best film

The 50 Kerala State Film Awards were announced on Tuesday. Suraj Venjaramoodu won the award for best actor for his performance in Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 and Vikruthi while Kani Kusruthi won the best actress award for Biriyaani.

Lijo Jose Pellissery bagged the award for best director for Jallikattu, while Vasanthi, directed by Rahman Brothers, was declared the best film.

Veteran cinematographer Madhu Ambat headed the jury for the latest edition of the state awards. This time, 119 films were reportedly in the reckoning.

The second best film award went to Kenjira directed by Manoj Kana.

Best Child Artist (Male) – Vasudev Sajeesh Mara, Sullu and Kallanottam

Best Child Artist (Female) – Catherine Viji, Nani

Best Debut Director – Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, Android Kunjappan Version 5.25

Best Music Director – Sushin Shyam, Kumbalangi Nights

Best Male Singer – Najim Arshad

Best Female Singer – Madhusree Narayanan

Best Editor – Kiran Das, Ishq

Best Cinematography – Prathap V Nair, Kenjira

Best Dubbing Artist – Male – Vineeth, Lucifer and Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham

Special Jury mention – Anna Ben for Helen, Nivin Pauly for Moothon and Priyamvadha Krishna for Thottapan
