Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has been accused by actress Payal Ghosh of sexual harassment, has been summoned to appear at the Versova police station on Thursday.

“Mumbai Police summons film director Anurag Kashyap (in file photo) asking him to appear at Versova Police station tomorrow at 11 am, in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor,” ANI tweeted.

Kashyap had called the allegations ‘baseless’ in a statement released through his lawyer. He said that he is deeply pained by the ‘malicious and dishonest’ allegations against him.

Ghosh on Tuesday met Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari, demanding action against the filmmaker. She was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale.

On Monday, Ghosh in a joint media press conference with Athawale, president of the Republican Party of India (RPI), had demanded that Kashyap should be arrested.

Athawale told reporters after the half-an-hour meeting with Koshyari that the governor has said he will speak with Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on the issue.

"I told the governor that Payal has been staying in Mumbai for 10 years. She faced the atrocity some years ago. She has also filed a police complaint in this case," he said.
