Television actor Preksha Mehta, popular for her role in the show Crime Patrol, committed suicide on Monday. She was found hanging in her house in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, say media reports. Preksha was 25 years old.
She also featured in shows like Laal Ishq and Meri Durga and worked in the movie Padman, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead.
Although the actor committed suicide on Monday night, her family came to know about the tragedy only on Tuesday morning. Although she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared brought dead.
According to a Times of India report, the actor was depressed owing to lack of work because of the lockdown as shootings have been suspended, and had to return from Mumbai to her hometown.
She had moved to Mumbai only two years ago. The actor was worried about not getting work offers once the lockdown is lifted, say media reports.
Before taking the extreme step, the actor had posted a cryptic message on Instagram: Sabse bura hota hai, sapnon ka mar jaana (The worst thing to happen is the death of your dreams).
A few days ago, another TV actor, Manmeet Grewal, had committed suicide in Mumabi. According to media reports, the actor was in financial crisis.
