Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who has been battling neuroendocrine tumour for quite a long time, has been admitted to the ICU at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after his health deteriorated.

“Yes, it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctor’s observation. His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure with his tremendous willpower and prayers of all his well wishers, he will recover soon,” the actor’s official spokesperson said in a statement.

Irrfan’s mother Saeeda Beegum, 95, died on Saturday and the actor had to attend the funeral via video call, owing to the COVID-19 induced nationwide lockdown.

On the work front, Irrfan was last seen in Angrezi Medium which had hit screens just before the lockdown was imposed.

Before the release of the film, Irrfan had put out a video message in which the actor said there were some ‘unwanted guests’ in his body.

“This film, Angrezi Medium, is very special to me. I truly wanted to promote this film as passionately as we made it, but there are some ‘unwanted guests’ in my body and they’re keeping me busy. I’ll keep you informed on that front,” he had said.

Irrfan was diagnosed with the disease in March, 2018 and left for London for treatment. In February, 2019, he briefly visited India, and Angrezi Medium was shot during this period.
