Actress Sonakshi Sinha, on Monday, took to Twitter to call out filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri for spreading baseless rumours about her. Sonakshi was referring to Agnihotri’s tweet in which he shared a photograph of her and asked: “Who shoots in such times?”

Sonakshi took to Twitter to clarify that the photograph was taken last year during the shoot of Farah Khan’s show Backbenchers.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the entertainment industry has come to a standstill with all shoots and production activities cancelled. “Being a Director and member of many unions and film bodies one would expect you to be better informed that Absolutely NO one is shooting since studios are shut and it’s a national lockdown!,” Sonakshi took a dig at Agnihotri.

She also tagged the official Twitter handles of the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to help deal with the situation.  “Excuse me @MumbaiPolice, @OfficeofUT what is the procedure to stop people from spreading rumors and fake news at a time like this? Asking for a responsible citizen, sitting at home, practicing social distancing and NOT shooting - ME,” she wrote.

Agnihotri, however, replied to Sonakshi that he was not referring to her, but condemning the Mumbai Mirror tabloid that had published the picture. He said that it was ‘insensitive journalism’ during these times as it gives a wrong impression to people.

Sonakshi was in the news recently after Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna took a dig at her and said that retelecast of iconic shows like Ramayana during the lockdown will benefit people like Sonakshi ‘who are not familiar with India’s mythology’.

Sonakshi had failed to answer a question on Ramayan, on the TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati some time ago. Coming in defence of his daughter, actor-politician and father of Sonakshi, Shatrughan Sinha lashed out at Khanna. “I believe someone has problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly what qualifies this person to be an expert on all things to do with the Ramayan? And who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion,” Bollywood Hangama quoted Sinha as saying.

Sonakshi will be seen next in Abhishek Dudhaiya’s Bhuj: The Pride Of India, alongside Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi.
