‘Trance’, ‘Hit’ to stream on Amazon Prime Video from today

A look at films, series streaming in April

With cinema theatres and other activities shutting down during the lockdown, more and more people are turning to online streaming platforms to kill time. With the growing audience in mind, OTT platforms are eager to bring in popular films on to the platform.

A few major films and series will be available on Amazon Prime Video in April.

Fahadh Faasil’s much-talked about Malayalam film Trance will start streaming from April 1. Directed by Anwar Rasheed, the film follows the life of a motivational speaker, who then becomes part of a corporate organisation that makes use of people’s religious beliefs to mint money. The film featured an ensemble cast including Nazriya Nazim, Sreenath Bhasi, Chemban Vinod, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan and filmmaker Gautam Menon.

Telugu film Hit will also start streaming on April 1. A thriller directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film features Vishwak Sen, Ruhani Sharma and Murali Sharma. The plot follows a cop, dealing with his own traumatic past, while also investigating the mysterious disappearance of a girl in Hyderabad.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Hindi film Shikhara, which showed the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits, will stream from April 4.

In April, Amazon Prime Video will also drop two India original series - season 1 of Panchayat and second season of Four More Shots Please! Directed by Anu Menon, Four More Shots Please! features Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo and Bani J. The series is about the bond between these unapologetic women, and the ups, downs and thrills in life. It will start streaming from April 17.  Panchayat, produced by TVF, stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav. It streams on April 3.

Rocketman, the golden Globe-winning movie based on Elton John’s life will release on April 2. Also, coming is season one of sci-fi series Tales from the Loop.
