“My body, my life, my income, my choice. I owe not a single person my autonomy or virtue just because of a name,” wrote legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg's 23-year-old daughter Mikaela on Instagram as she announced her decision to pursue a career in the adult entertainment industry. "I just launched my self-produced adult entertainment career. Safe, sane, consensual is the goal y’all (sic)."

Mikaela, who describes herself as "a sexual creature", has already started self producing solo porn videos, and said she would love to land a job as a dancer in a strip club once she obtains her sex worker license in Tennessee, US.

She posted videos to PornHub under the stage name "Sugar Star", but deleted those temporarily as she was awaiting her license.

Mikaela first took to social media to reveal about her new career choice. She said she broke the news to her parents via FaceTime, adding, they were "intrigued" but "not upset" by her choice. The 23-year-old said she has huge love and respect for her parents and admits that while she was nervous about telling them, she wasn't surprised that they were supportive. "I actually think that once they see how far I've come from the bottom I was at a year and a half ago, they're going to look at this and go, 'Wow, we actually raised are really self-assured, young lady," Mikaela told The Sun

"I'm doing this, not out of an urge to hurt anybody or be spiteful about it, I'm doing this because I want to honour my body in a way that's lucrative. I got really tired of not being able to capitalise on my body and frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body. And I also just got tired of working day to day in a way that wasn't satisfying my soul," said Mikaela, who was adopted by Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, at birth in 1996.

She did not mince words to make it clear that she was looking at a career where she could be financial independent. "My main hope is just that I get somewhere lucrative enough to where I'm not tied down financially by things. And then I can really start saying to people there's nothing wrong with me using my body in a way that feels comfortable to support myself."

In her interview to The Sun, Mikaela threw more light into her psyche and to stand by a difficult, yet satisfying life decision. " I've always been a very sexually natured person, which has gotten me in trouble before. Not in a predatory way but just in the sense that people here in the South might not yet be comfortable with that." She added she has the full support of her boyfriend, Chuck Pankow, a 47-year-old professional darts player, for her new venture.

However, she said she would refrain from "having sex with another person on camera, out of respect for her supportive fiancé."

As it turns out, Mikaela had a troubled past in which she says she suffered sexual abuse. She says she was groomed and abused by "predators" growing up—although she is keen to point out these men were outsiders and not anyone from her family or their circle of friends. The incidents contributed to her suffering years of mental health issues including anorexia, borderline personality disorder and alcoholism.

The Spielberg couple has six children, apart from Mikaela.
