Bollywood actor Vaani Kapoor landed in legal trouble after the Befikre star shared a photo of her in a bikini top with the word 'Ram' printed on it on social media.

While many on the internet accused the actor of hurting religious sentiments, a Mumbai resident went a step further and filed a complaint against Vaani Kapoor, accusing her of hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

Following the complaint, the actor deleted the photo.

According to media reports, the complaint was filed at NM Joshi Marg Police Station in Mumbai and in the complaint, the man said he was an ardent devotee of Lord Ram and demanded action against the actor for wearing a revealing cloth with the name of the Hindu god printed on it.

The complainant reportedly said the actor was called to the police station to record her statement in connection with the case.

Even before the complaint was fired, there was much online backlash over the photo. While some of the users called the dress "uncultured", others called for a boycott of the actor's movies.

The actor is yet to come out with a statement on the issue.

On the work front, Vaani Kapoor was last seen in the action thriller War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. She will be next seen in Shamshera, an action-adventure movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in the lead.
