Come August 30, it will be clash of the biggies at the box office. Saaho, starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and Kaappaan, which marks the coming together of two of the biggest stars in the south—Suriya and Mohanlal—are slated for release on August 30.

Saaho has been in the news for quite some time. This is the first release of Prabhas after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017. The Baahubali series made Prabhas a household name and the actor has a huge fan following, not just among Tollywood movie goers, but all across the country as both editions of Baahubali have been extremely popular among movie goers. It is expected that the popularity of Prabhas will help Saaho to have a good initial collection. The movie is also being simultaneously released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.

Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho is an action thriller with an impressive line of actors. The movie has Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Arun Vijay in the lead apart from Prabhas.

Hailed to be one of the most expensive movies being made in India at a budget of budget of ₹300 crore, Saaho was initially scheduled to be released on August 15, but was postponed. "We want to bring the best to the audience. For bringing finesse to the action sequences we need some more time. Although we are shifting the date from Independence Day but we want to stick to the month of Independence and patriotism with Saaho. We are dedicated to bringing the biggest movie on the largest scale," PTI had quoted a spokesperson for the producers of the movie as saying.

Directed by K.V. Anand of Kaappaan too is an action thriller with Suriya, Mohanlal, Arya and Sayyeshaa in the lead. For Suriya, the success of the movie is important as his last few outings haven't been all that impressive. The actor has a huge fanbase in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and so the movie will be simultaneously released in Telugu and Tamil.

Mohanlal would be playing the role of the prime minister of India in the movie while Suriya would be playing a Special Protection Group (SPG) officer.

Considering how huge both the releases are, there are possibilities that one of them may be postponed, although, according to media reports, Lyca Productions, which is producing Kaappaan has revealed that it has no plans to shift the release.
