With web series spiralling towards the stature of being the new monarch of entertainment, filmmakers are striving to bring in new perspectives and stories.

Now, 'Bandit Queen’ Phoolan Devi's life is all set to be transformed into a web series from the autobiography I, Phoolan Devi. The web series will aim to explore the uncharted territory of the Bandit Queen’s life that the world is yet to know.

The co-founder of Namah Pictures, Kishor Arora, who has attained the rights of the book, said in a statement: "Phoolan Devi is undoubtedly one of the most talked about personalities... There are important chapters and layers of her life that remain unexplored and the web series format will allow us the bandwidth to do that."

Talking about the project, late Phoolan Devi’s husband, Umed Singh Bhaiya commented: "The truth of Phoolan's life should reach out to people... It's a tale of a rebel that should inspire women across the world to speak against any atrocity".

Adding further, co-founder of Namah Pictures, Shareen Mehta said: "In the current digital age, we feel that Phoolan Devi's stark and immersing tale will find a resonance in audiences across geographies and demographics."

In the past, Namah Pictures had bankrolled filmmaker Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds and a web series Karenjit Kaur - The Untold Story of Sunny Leone.
