Actor Abhishek Bachchan is a scorned man. His wife and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the subject of a controversy, the fires of which were fanned by actor Vivek Oberoi.

Vivek Oberoi, who is also Aishwarya’s ex-boyfriend, had recently shared a distasteful meme on the actress. The meme showed three panels each representing the former Miss World’s relationships. The first panel showed Aishwarya with Salman Khan with the text ‘opinion polls’, the second with Oberoi with the text ‘exit polls’ and the last panel with husband Abhishek and daughter Aaradhya saying ‘result’.

Oberoi tweeted the image and wrote, “Haha! Creative! No politics here...just life”.

Abhishek, who reportedly lost his cool after the meme sparked a row, was calmed by Aishwarya after the latter told him to ignore Oberoi and his tweet. Aishwarya asked Abhishek to not give the tweet or Oberoi any undue attention and that it was simply a publicity stunt before the release of his movie PM Narendra Modi. Abhishek is said to have taken Aishwarya’s advice and has refrained from reacting to the tweet or anything related to this episode.

Oberoi, who plays the prime minister in the biopic PM Narendra Modi, was slammed on social media for sharing the meme that many described as disgusting and crass. The director of PM Narendra Modi, Omung Kumar, also said that Oberoi’s crass meme “went the wrong way” and that the joke went too far.

However, Oberoi tried to play it cool and said that he didn’t think he had done anything wrong. “People are asking me to apologise. I have no problem in apologising, but tell me what wrong have I done. If I have done something wrong, I will apologise... What's wrong in it? Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it.”

But Oberoi felt the heat of his tweet and later apologised for sharing it. “Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies tweet deleted.”
