The deteriorating ties between India and Pakistan ever since the Pulwama attack, which claimed the lives of over 40 paramilitary personnel, appears to have prompted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan to turn a role in a movie.

According to media reports, Amitabh Bachchan was supposed to play the role of a Pakistani in an upcoming movie directed by Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty. The actor was initially enthusiastic about the project as he was impressed with the message of the movie.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Resul Pookutty had been discussing the project with Amitabh Bachchan for two years and the actor was in fact ready to play the character. Resul Pookutty waited for the actor's dates, but in the wake of the worsening relations between India and Pakistan, the actor had second thoughts and decided to say 'no' to the project, Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.

Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Badla, a thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh with Taapsee Pannu in the lead. The actor will be next seen in the multi-starrer Brahmastra which is being directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar.
