PM Narendra Modi will not release as scheduled on April 5, according to reports. Directed by Omung Kumar, the film features Vivek Oberoi in the titular role.

The film is being accused of being a propaganda film for the BJP right before the elections as the party eyes a second term at the Centre. It has also come under the Election Commission's scanner after the opposition raked up the issue of the film violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, agreed to hear plea seeking deferment of public screening of the film. According to reports, the apex court will hear the case on Monday.

Responding to the allegations, Vivek Oberoi said recently he does not understand the 'overreaction' to the Modi biopic. “We are not projecting him as a hero, he already is a hero, not only for me but for crores of people in India and abroad. It's an inspirational story which we brought to the screen,” ANI quoted him as saying.

The Congress said it has complained to the Election Commission about the release of the biopic ahead of the polls, saying it was an example of absolute desperation and is based on a "flop person" who has proved to be a "zero".
