After Rajinikanth's 'Petta', Karthik Subbaraj to direct Dhanush next

Karthik Subbaraj is still basking in the success of Petta in which he teamed up with his favourite star Rajinikanth to gift to the superstar's fans an experience of Rajini days of old.

Now, the director is all set to helm his new venture in which Dhanush will play the lead role. In fact, the project was announced in 2017, but was shelved as Subbaraj got busy with directing Petta.

According to media reports, the shooting of the movie is expected to begin in a few months. The movie, which is expected to be a gangster saga, may also feature a prominent Hollywood actor.

Subbaraj shot to fame after his directorial debut Pizza, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan, managed to impress critics and audience alike. This was followed by the success of Jigarthanda which had Siddharth and Bobby Simha in the lead.

His most commercial film till date was Petta which was a Pongal release and raked big bucks in the box office. He had said he wanted to make Petta memorable for himself as a fan and called Rajinikanth "one of the greatest performers in our country".
