In Tamil Nadu where actors are accorded the status of demigods, fans are known to do things that are beyond crazy. From the harmless gesture of pouring milk on the banners and cutouts of actors to inflicting self-harm, (the most recent incident being a fan killing himself after he was unable to meet KGF star Yash), devotion and craziness of fans seem to know no bounds.

In yet another case of a fan going overboard with his devotion, recently, a young man attempted to kill his father after the latter refused to give him money to watch the latest movie of Tamil actor Ajith, Viswasam. The accused, a 20-year-old youth who bares the same name as his favourite star, set his father Pandiyan on fire in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
According to media reports, the accused poured petrol on his father when he was asleep and set him on fire. Pandiyan suffered serious burn injuries and is admitted to the hospital.
The actor is yet to react to the incident.
In another incident, six fans of Ajith suffered minor injuries when a huge cutout of the actor, erected outside a theatre in Thirukovilur in Villupuram district, collapsed and fell on them.
