The teaser of Rocketry – The Nambi Effect was released on October 31. Based on the life of scientist Nambi Narayanan, the film will see actor R. Madhavan essaying the veteran ISRO scientist. The actor is also directing the film along with Anant Mahadevan.

The teaser begins with shots of a rocket launch and Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing the successful launch of the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) by ISRO. Figures showing Russia's and NASA's failed attempts are also being quickly shown, in contrast to India tasting success in its first attempt, that too at a far lesser cost. The scene pans to Madhavan watching the rocket launch as he remains imprisoned in a dimly-lit cell.

In September, Nambi Narayanan was compensated Rs 50 lakh by the Supreme Court for 'unnecessary arrest, harassment and mental cruelty' the infamous 1994 espionage case. Narayanan was falsely accused of selling vital secrets associated with Indian space technology to Pakistan. Though he was later acquitted by a CBI court and the Supreme Court in 1998, he spent a total of 50 days in jail. In the teaser, a voice says: “My name is Nambi Narayanan. I spent 35 years in rocketry and 50 days in prison. My nation paid the price of those 50 days and this story is about that. It’s not about me.”

The multilingual film is expected to release in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
