Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, who went on a Twitter rant against paid media on Friday, has landed up in a fresh controversy. Bollywood news portal SpotboyE's editor Vickey Lalwani, late on Friday, accused Sharma of abusing and threatening him "for only reporting the shoots that he has been cancelling, the fact that his film Firangi was bad and the truth that his new show Family Time With Kapil Sharma (FTWKS) is no great shakes".

In the audio transcript of the phone conversation, Kapil Sharma can be heard abusing and threatening Vickey Lalwani. Later, Sharma's friend joins the conversation who also continues the rant against Lalwani. "I have spoken to the man who made me and my family smile every minute that he appeared on the small screen. After Kaun Banega Crorepati, we finally had a show which was Appointment Viewing for us, and I am sure for many others too. And then he started failing, incidentally after his mid-air brawl with Sunil Grover on March 16, 2017. We so wanted him to return to his good, old ways. But in fact, he started annoying even the film industry by making them wait for endless hours. There was apparently no remorse, hence no change for the better. And God save me, this evening he abused and threatened me left, right and centre for only reporting the shoots that he has been cancelling, the fact that his film Firangi was bad and the truth that his new show Family Time With Kapil Sharma (FTWKS) is no great shakes," wrote Lalwani in his post on SpotboyE.

Meanwhile, news agancy ANI has reported that Sharma has filed a police complaint against his ex-managers Neeti, Preeti and journalist Vickey Lalwani for trying to extort Rs 25 lakhs from him. The stand-up comedian also alleged that Lalwani started a false and malicious propaganda to defame him in digital media after he refused to pay him the amount.

On the other hand, SpotboyE informed on Twitter that the company would be handing over the audio tape to Mumbai Police. "WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO HAND OVER THIS TAPE TO THE @MumbaiPolice . SOMETHING HAS SERIOUSLY GONE WRONG WITH @KapilSharmaK9. IT'S ALL SO SCARY, ERR, EERIE."
