Actress Sridevi's sudden demise in Dubai on February 24 had sent shock waves across the country. As the film fraternity grieved the loss of a superstar, her family struggled to come to terms with the irreplaceable loss of a mother, wife, daughter. Everyone came together to support her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Khushi and Janhvi.

Now as prayer meetings are getting done with, and Janhvi returns to work on her debut film Dhadak, controversies have been springing up. The latest being Sridevi's uncle Venugopal Reddy saying Sridevi passed away in grief. In an exclusive interview to a Telugu channel, he reportedly said they were going through a rough patch due to Boney Kapoor's financial status. Sridevi's sister Srilatha, however, continues to maintain her silence over the actress's sudden demise.

However, Srilatha's husband Sanjay Ramaswami has broken silence and refuted all claims of Reddy. According to a report in DNA, Sanjay’s statement reads, “I have been married to Srilatha (Sridevi's sister) for 28 years and never once have we heard of this individual Venugopal Reddy. The family is in grief and chooses to not make any comments through this painful time. There is no truth to this man's claims and the entire family is in support of Boney Kapoor and are with him through this challenging phase. Some sections of the media questioned my wife's silence and attributed all kinds of ridiculous allegations. I am sure that they have loved ones that they lost. Did they stand up on the wall and shout. We mourn in silence and do not seek any publicity and that should not be misconstrued. We are a very close knit family. Sridevi was an inspiration to all of us and all in the family loved her very much.”
