Ajit Doval breaks silence on Operation Sindoor: 'India can hit hard, irrespective of consequences'

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has delivered a strong message on India's willingness to respond to threats, saying the country's generosity and tolerance should not be mistaken for weakness and that New Delhi is prepared to "hit hard" irrespective of the consequences.

Doval made the remarks in his first interview since Operation Sindoor while speaking for the upcoming Discovery docuseries ‘Declassified: Operation Sindoor’.

"Message to the world is very clear; India's generosity or India being tolerant should not be mistaken for its weakness. India can take risks, India can hit hard, irrespective of the consequences," Doval said.

The National Security Advisor also spoke about the objective behind Operation Sindoor.

"We had decided the objective of the operation as destruction of the enemy camps particularly those who had been responsible for the Pahalgam attack," he said.

The two-part docuseries brings together India's military and national security leadership to recount the decisions and events surrounding Operation Sindoor, according to a statement from Discovery.

It features first-hand accounts from those who oversaw India's response, with Doval providing his account of the decision-making and resolve behind the military operation.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7 last year in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Indian forces carried out precision strikes against multiple terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan subsequently launched offensives against India, with India's counter-offensives continuing under Operation Sindoor.

The military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours lasted nearly 88 hours before coming to a halt following an understanding reached on the evening of May 10.
