The Indian Army showcased a wide range of its combat, mobility, surveillance and technological capabilities in the Drass sector of Ladakh as part of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations.
Through a live operational demonstration and static display at Matayen, the Army demonstrated its preparedness for operations in challenging high-altitude terrain, while also highlighting the increasing integration of advanced technologies into battlefield operations.
“As part of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, the Indian Army conducted an operational capability demonstration and static display for media representatives at Matayen, showcasing its combat readiness, technological innovation and high-altitude operational capabilities,” the Fire and Fury Corps said on X.
Among the capabilities demonstrated was the Army's small team concept, along with the use of drones and remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS) in mountainous terrain.
The display also highlighted the Army's mobility and reconnaissance capabilities. Equipment showcased included special mobility vehicles (SMVs), rough terrain vehicles, the Chetak all-terrain vehicle, high mobility reconnaissance vehicles and quick reaction fighting vehicles.
An array of advanced drones and RPAS was also displayed, highlighting the Army's growing surveillance capabilities.
Army personnel briefed those present at the venue on a range of modern weapon systems, surveillance equipment and indigenous military technologies designed to improve operational effectiveness in high-altitude areas.
The demonstration, according to Army officials, reflected the force's emphasis on operational excellence, technological advancement and self-reliance.
The event was also an occasion to pay tribute to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Vijay in the 1999 Kargil conflict.
The demonstration formed part of commemorative events marking the 27th anniversary of India's victory in the Kargil War.
