India’s first Anti-Drone Patrol Vehicle (ADPV) launch was announced on Wednesday by Hyderabad-based Indrajaal Drone Defence Systems. The AI-enabled, fully mobile ADPV has been named 'Indrajaal Ranger'.

Indrajaal Autonomous Drone Defence Dome claims that their ADPV can take on UAV threats while in motion. They can detect, track, and eliminate drones while operating in various terrains and corridors. While traditional vehicle-mounted anti-drone systems need to be moved from one conflict location to another, 'Indrajaal Ranger' can move around and execute kills, they said.
Illegal drone movement along the international borders has been giving the Border Security Force (BSF) and other security agencies a hard time. From narcotics and counterfeit to lethal arms, drones have become the favourite mode of transportation for international smugglers targeting India's border states.
"...the BSF neutralising 255 Pakistani drones so far this year underscored how drones have become the primary transport channel for India's ₹3-lakh-crore drug-trafficking ecosystem."

"Together, these incidents made one truth undeniable: India urgently needed a mobile, fast-response counter-drone vehicle capable of detecting, tracking, and neutralising drones in real time—and saving lives," an official statement said.
A mobile anti-drone defence system
The official website calls the Ranger "autonomous airspace control—on wheels." "With an integrated cyber takeover unit, GNSS spoofing, RF jamming, and a spring-loaded kill switch, Ranger neutralises rogue drones within a 4 km combat envelope—fast, clean, and autonomously," it further said.
In times of conflict, 'Indrajaal Ranger' can be deployed to protect the army's forward operating bases and tactical camps from drone strikes.
It can escort convoys safely—providing full aerial coverage from UAV threats and can step in to fill surveillance blind spots in areas where fixed radar systems cannot be installed, the official website claimed. Key assets such as ammunition depots, helipads and logistics hubs can be more reliably guarded from kamikaze strikes if the ADPV is on standby, it added.
Components and arsenal
The official breakdown of the Indrajaal Ranger's DTIM (Detection, Tracking, Interception, and Mitigation) process states that the entire detection and tracking zone extends up to 10 km, where the system first spots an incoming threat. As it approaches, the engagement is carried out through two primary neutralisation zones: the Soft Kill Zone and the Hard Kill Zone. The Soft Kill Zone begins at 3 km, where the system can achieve a soft capture (4 km mark is shown for the captured drone) using measures like electronic interference.
The innermost layer, the Hard Kill Zone, extends up to 2 km. In this critical zone, the Ranger triggers methods like RF jamming, GNSS spoofing, or its kill switch to achieve a hard kill and neutralise the drone without causing any collateral damage or signal spil

1. Protocol Analyser: This system captures and decodes the signals that drones use to communicate with their controllers, helping security teams quickly identify and classify suspicious or rogue drones.
2. Cyber Takeover: This device can remotely hijack a hostile drone by overriding its controls, allowing authorities to neutralise the threat without needing to physically damage the drone.
3. GNSS Spoofer & Jammer: This compact, high-power module—designed to be mounted on vehicles—disrupts a drone’s GPS or navigation signals, preventing it from operating correctly within a protected area.
4. Zombee Drone: This interceptor drone, launched from a dedicated system, chases down and physically destroys hostile drones using a direct kinetic hit.
The cost and expenditure of Indrajaal Rangers were not immediately known.
