Refuting the recent claim of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi that 60 per cent of the terrorists eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 were of Pakistani origin, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir called them “hollow statements.”
Gen Dwivedi had also said around 80 per cent or more of the remaining terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir are of Pakistan origin.

According to a statement from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR)—the media and public relations wing for the armed forces of Pakistan—, the statement from COAS Munir came during the 267th Corps Commanders’ Conference in Pakistan.
In the statement, ISPR said the Pakistan military leadership took serious note of the "reckless and provocative" statement from the Indian military leadership and claimed that such statements were "irresponsible and detrimental" to the stability of the region.
"These hollow statements from Indian military are indicative of their growing frustration and serve only to divert the attention of their masses and international community from their multiple internal fissures and blatant violations of human rights," ISPR quoted COAS Munir as saying, adding that Pakistan army is fully prepared to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
He warned India that misadventures against Pakistan will be responded with full and resolute force of the state.
In January, soon after Gen Dwivedi made the statement about terrorists of Pakistani origin and claimed that the neigbouring country is the "epicentre of terrorism", the Pakistani military had claimed that the statements by the Indian side was "not only contrary to facts but also an exercise in futility." Pakistan claimed that blaming the country for "indigenous reaction to state-sponsored brutality" is "a classic case of extreme duplicity."
