Stock market holidays in October: NSE and BSE to remain closed on THESE days

Stock market holidays in October will impact trading due to several Indian festivals like Dussehra and Diwali

Stock market traders need to look out for multiple holidays in the month of October due to several Indian festivals like Dusshera, Diwali, Balipratipada and Gandhi Jayanti. 

According to the official website of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), there are three holidays in the month of October. October 2 will be closed for trading on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra. Similarly, October 21 and 22 will be closed for stock market trading due to Diwali Laxmi Pujan and Balipratipada, respectively. 

Previously, stock market traders were not able to operate on August 27. This is due to the suspension of trading options on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. 

Meanwhile, markets will remain open on October 10 for Karva Chauth and on Chhat Puja that falls on October 28. 

Muhurat trading

Regarding Muhurat trading, the special one-hour live trading session will be executed on October 21, 2025. It is considered auspicious for traders and investors who choose to buy stocks during this period on Diwali. The normal market will open at 1.45 pm and will close at 2.45 pm. Traders and investors need to note that the setup cut-off time for position limit/ collateral value is 2.55 pm and the trade modification end time will be at 2.55 pm as well.
