Cipla Managing Director and Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Umang Vohra is set to resign his post by early 2026, according to reports.
In the past, Vohra has been associated with companies like Eicher Motors and PepsiCo. He joined Cipla as Global Chief Financial and Strategy Officer on September 1, 2016, and later became the Global Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Achin Gupta, who is serving as the Global COO, is expected to succeed Vohra, reported Live Mint.
Who is Achin Gupta?
Achin Gupta joined Cipla in 2021 as CEO - One India Business (SMP), the company's segment focused on the Indian market. He was also a member of the Management Council. He was appointed the Global COO on February 1, 2025.

Gupta was credited with One India segment's double-digit revenue growth as well as digital overhaul and martket leadership. By the time he takes over as Global CEO, he would complete a year in his current post as Global COO.
Before his tenure in Cipla, Gupta was employed with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals as Executive Vice President and Business Head, with responsibilities for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America regions. He was also a board member at Medicines for Europe.
Gupta kickstarted his career with AT Kearney, a management consulting firm. He has also been employed with Abbott Established Pharmaceuticals.
