The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched EPFO Passbook Lite feature that allows users to access the passbook balance without any hassle.

What is EPFO Passbook Lite?

While users had to log in to multiple websites to check their balance, EPFO Passbook Lite will reduce redundancy and lets users access balance within same website instead of signing into the passbook website.

Passbook Lite allows members to check their passbook and monthly contributions and withdrawal seamlessly on a single portal. They can also track whether their PF balance and service period are correctly updated in the new account.

How to log into EPFO website?

  • Go to EPFO official portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  • Login as Employee
  • Enter UAN ID and password
  • Click View option
  • Select Pasbook Lite from the dropdown list
  • Select member ID to check EPFO contributions and withdrawals

Another useful feature is the Annexure K, which can now be accessed by the employee. Once a member switches job, the PF account is transferred to new employer through Form 13. Following this, a transfer certificate Annexure K is created by the previous PF office and sent to the new PF office.

Earlier, Annexure K was shared only between the PF offices and members could access it only if they request for it. Now, users can download Annexure K directly from the member portal in PDF format. This is expected to help employees track the status of their transfer applications.

EPFO members previously required multiple approvals from officials to transfer, withdraw and settle PF as well as for refunds and advances. However, now these processes will be delegated to Assistant PF Commissioners and other officers.

Besides expediting claim settlements and cutting processing period, the new move will simplify and smoothen services as well as ensure transparency and accountability.
